Advising schools and their governing bodies on setting up and managing a Development Office, especially where resources are limited
Starting a development office to support fundraising and alumni relations with new staff, a completely new language, new processes and external demands can be extremely daunting. This is especially so for the Head who is often thrown into a new and quite alien role – that of asking for money.
Our expertise, based on hands-on experience at the sharp end of development, will guide you through the whole process of establishing a development office, setting up and managing processes, writing and implementing a development plan, strategising and managing major gifts and making that all important ‘ask’. By understanding the elements of successful development and knowing how to avoid the pitfalls, expensive mistakes, of which there are many examples, can be avoided.
We have proven expertise working with Heads, Governors, the SMT and staff as well as volunteer boards. Our aim is to empower schools to manage their activities and make informed decisions about the most appropriate approach to development for them – be that in house or through carefully monitored external support.
