The Team Mike Dickson

Senior Advisor, Africa

Mike has lived most of his life overseas and joins RSAcademics with over thirty years of senior management experience.  He is a former Head and Deputy of The Banda School, Nairobi and he also taught in the city’s Hillcrest Prep.  He was instrumental in setting up the IAPS Kenya District incorporating ten renowned prep schools in the region. Mike was also Head of The Regent School in Abuja, Nigeria and as a historian and a PE teacher, taught at Clifton Hall Prep and was Deputy Head and Housemaster at Loretto Nippers in Edinburgh.

Educated at Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh and Worcester College of Higher Education, he has also schooled or resided in Nigeria, Kenya, Finland, Belgium and in Malaysia. His in-depth knowledge of boarding and day schools comes from his experience, not only as a pupil, teacher and senior leader, but also as an independent advisor to parents wishing a UK school education for their children.

In July 2016, Mike returned to the UK and lives in Gullane, East Lothian. He remains passionate about overseas schooling and is an Education Advisor to The Board of The Banda School.

Mike’s interests revolve around sport, particularly golf.  He was Captain and twice Club Champion of Karen Country Club in Nairobi and is a member of Luffness New and Gullane Golf Clubs, Scotland.  In addition, he is a member of the Muthaiga Country Club, the Kenya Golfing Society and the Rugby Patrons’ Club.  Other interests include wildlife and fishing.
